Sleep deprivation by looking in the evening at a display disturbs sleep
Lack of sleep or sleep is disturbed by display screens. For a long time we look at LCD and LED displays, which can be a TV, laptop, ipad or phone. To see what is a backlight LED light is in the display. The problem is that there is too much blue light is coming from it. That is very different from the natural light. So if you look at the screen for hours it will influence the body, but especially the hormones come out of balance.
This primarily concerns the hormone melatonin! Melatonin is made in the evening when the sun goes down. Naturally there is more red light in the color spectrum and of course if you look at the screen too long this will disrupt, and stop the production of melatonin. This gives you no sleep signal and when you go to sleep, you will be harder to get asleep causing your sleep is shorter and shallower. The result is that you will not wake up rested and at daytime you are less concentrated and vital. If this happen for days you will have chronic sleep deficit.
